Starting With the Roof Deck
A roof is only as strong as the deck it is nailed to. Once the old roofing was removed at Poinsettia Drive, our crew inspected the decking. Lone Wolf Roofing does not install shingles over soft or rotten wood, because shingles cannot be secured properly to a weak deck and the roof loses strength as a result.
In this case, ten pieces of rotten or damaged wood were found and replaced before the new roofing went on. Catching problems at this stage protects the homeowner from hidden damage under a brand-new roof, and it gives every layer above it a solid surface to work from.
Building a Complete GAF Roofing System

Timberline HDZ shingles feature GAF’s LayerLock Technology, a large StrikeZone nailing area, and Dura Grip sealant designed to help the shingles stay in place in high winds. They pass the UL 2218 impact-resistance test with a Class 3 rating and include StainGuard Plus algae protection. When installed with the required combination of GAF accessories, Timberline HDZ shingles are eligible for GAF’s WindProven Limited Wind Warranty, which has no maximum wind-speed limitation.
