Marrero re-roofs go through Jefferson Parish, not a city hall

Marrero is an unincorporated community. It has no city government of its own. Permits and code enforcement for unincorporated addresses go through Jefferson Parish.
The parish states that a re-roofing permit from its Department of Building Permits is required before replacing 50% or more of the roof covering on a one or two-family home. It states that the work must follow the 2021 International Residential Code. That is the parish’s stated threshold. It is not a rule for smaller repairs, and it does not cover shops, offices, or larger buildings.
The application is filed online through the parish’s MGO Connect portal. The parish requires location-verified photos of each phase of the job. A parish building inspector then does a final inspection before a Certificate of Completion is issued. The parish sets the permit fee.
When we replace a Marrero roof, we handle the permit filing, the photo uploads, and the inspection scheduling. Our inspection is not permit approval or code certification. The parish decides at its own inspection. If your roof may need a full replacement, start with our roof replacement page. For a smaller problem, see roof repair.

Red tile on Barataria Boulevard, and why roofs here differ

At 1101 Barataria Boulevard, Hope Haven and Madonna Manor form what one architectural source calls the largest group of Spanish Colonial Revival buildings in Louisiana. Built mainly from 1925 to the early 1940s, the buildings have white stucco walls and red tile roofs. The Archdiocese of New Orleans owns the complex. We have not worked on it. It is a landmark, not one of our projects.
It does show that Marrero has more than one roof style. But it is a historic, non-residential site, not a standard for homes here. Roof age and material change from property to property, so we check yours directly instead of assuming.
The Barataria Preserve, part of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, is a different kind of place. It is a natural area of bayous, swamps, marshes, and forests with boardwalks and trails. It is a nearby landmark, not a residential area. A roof inspection is the best way to learn the age, material, and condition of your own roof.

Levees, heavy rain, and what a roof can and cannot fix

Marrero sits on the West Bank of the Mississippi River. Jefferson Parish says levees protect the parish from river flooding. It says a separate hurricane protection system addresses surge from Lake Pontchartrain and the Gulf. The parish also says most of the parish is at or below sea level, that water must be pumped out through the drainage system, and that heavy rain can cause flash flooding inside the levees.
Flood exposure still differs by property. Whether a home sits in a FEMA Special Flood Hazard Area depends on its location, so it has to be checked by address. Street drainage in unincorporated Marrero is handled by the parish.
A new roof will not solve street flooding, foundation moisture, or flood-zone status. A roof inspection can help sort out whether a leak comes from the roof covering, flashing, a penetration, or the gutters. If storm damage is the question, see our storm damage restoration page. If a claim is involved, see roof insurance claims.

What our workmanship warranty covers

The 100-Year Workmanship Warranty applies to covered problems caused by faulty or improper workmanship in our installation. The 100 years applies to workmanship coverage. It does not mean the roof or roofing material is expected or guaranteed to last 100 years. Manufacturer warranties are separate. They cover eligible roofing materials under the manufacturer’s terms. The workmanship warranty can be transferred one time to the next homeowner. Coverage is subject to the written warranty’s eligibility requirements, terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions. Read the details on the 100-Year Workmanship Warranty page.

No. Woodmere is a separate community that borders Harvey to the northeast. Some listing sites group the two, and ZIP 70058 reaches areas beyond Harvey, so neither settles it. Confirm the community for your address before comparing quotes or looking up records.
Not every leak starts at the roof. Heavy rain can also involve gutters, drainage, foundation or slab moisture, or site flooding. An inspection helps separate roof-covering damage, flashing, and penetration problems from the rest.
